Little different situation here. I have a mgr who works for me. She rented an apartment. Filled out application, they did credit check, background check, took her deposits, pro-rated rent etc. Gave her keys to move in etc. Told her if boyfriend moved in with her, he would need to come by and fill out application as well. Boyfriend did go by 1 wk later and did this. Much to my mgr's surprise, they told her that her boyfriend could not move in with her because he had a criminal record for forging a check. Legally can they do this? There was no mention of “Hey, if your boyfriend does not qualify he will not be able….etc etc. And there is nothing written in the application, lease agreement etc to this effect.
